AirSpeed Telecom transforms IT network at Irish Distillers in a contract worth €220K

AirSpeed Telecom has completed a total transformation of the communications network at Irish Distillers in a contract worth €220K.

Irish Distillers is Ireland's leading supplier of spirits and wines and the producer of Jameson, the world's fastest growing international brand of whiskey. The operation has six sites across Ireland, including locations in Belfast, Cork and Dublin.

Transformation of the underlying network was designed and delivered by AirSpeed Telecom with the development of a new 100Mbps multisite network across all sites with performance and QoS (Quality of Service) guarantees to support applications like VOIP as well as the critical demands of the new data centre.

The new ICT infrastructure at Irish Distillers has resulted in a wealth of benefits for the company including:

Bandwidth Boost:  From a previous connection of 512Kbps, all Irish Distillers sites have now moved to 100Mbps, supporting faster, more responsive performance, monitoring and maintenance.

Reduced Costs: A server virtualisation programme, facilitated by the 100Mbps link from Irish Distillers’ headquarters to its data centre, has reduced 20 servers down to four, delivering significant savings in equipment purchase, monitoring and maintenance.

Increased Reliability:Better performance from mission-critical applications, including internal voice over IP services.

Better Resilience: The IT environment is now replicated in real-time across two separate sites, which delivers a major leap forward in the company’s business resilience.

Better IT Service Levels: Moving the IT function for remote offices to the data centre and virtualising the platform has decreased the IT manpower required to maintain the platform freeing up time for strategic tasks.  A private cloud-based infrastructure delivers uniform, high-speed access to essential applications for every Irish Distiller site.

Liam O’Kelly, Managing Director, AirSpeed Telecom, says:

“AirSpeed Telecom is delighted to work with Irish Distillers. The high performance network we’ve put in for them is ideal to meet their requirements for secure, reliable and high speed communications between their sites across the country. This allows Irish Distillers to continually drive greater efficiencies to stay competitive and at the forefront of their industry.”

David Ryan, IT Infrastructure Manager, Irish Distillers, says the robust new infrastructure has positioned Irish Distillers to compete better in the marketplace:  “There are huge pressures on IT to be dynamic. What we really need from our service providers is reliability, quick response and value for money, and we’re getting all three from AirSpeed Telecom.”

Our remote locations aren't even remote anymore. Using licensed wireless, they have everything that users in the main hospital have: access to all the data and images, at the speeds and reliability of the main network.
