AirSpeed Telecom appointed Dairygold’s primary telecom service provider between its UK and Irish operations

Three year contract worth over €100k

AirSpeed Telecom, the telecommunications company which operates a nationwide licensed wireless radio transmission network, has been awarded a contract with Dairygold to become their primary telecom service provider between the company’s UK data centre and its Irish operations. The contract is for three years and is worth over €100,000.

Dairygold Co-Operative Society Limited is Ireland's largest farmer owned business. Its businesses include Dairygold Food Ingredients (DFI) and Agri Trading. The organisation has selected AirSpeed Telecom to provide a higher bandwidth connection of 10Mbps between their Data Centre at IBM in Warwickshire in the UK, and Dairygold headquarters in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.

Dairygold’s data facility in Warwickshire was connected to the Mitchelstown centre over a 2Mbps circuit, which was insufficient to implement their new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Dairygold needed to considerably increase this bandwidth which was not readily available at the Mitchelstown location and AirSpeed Telecom, who already provide Dairygold’s high-speed WAN network in Cork, were able to deliver the necessary bandwidth for Dairygold with a 10Mbps connection to their operations in the UK.

Liam O’ Kelly, Managing Director with AirSpeed Telecom, says:

“We are delighted to provide an international connection to Dairygold’s data centre at IBM, Warwickshire, UK. Due to the growing importance of this facility for their day-to-day operations, Dairygold needed to considerably increase the bandwidth. The higher bandwidth provided by AirSpeed Telecom proved a key enabler for the implementation of the new ERP system hosted in the UK facility.”

Bill O’ Mara, IT Services, with Dairygold, says:

“Until now, we were unable to secure sufficient bandwidth to implement our ERP system remotely. AirSpeed Telecom, who started out as our back up provider, has provided us with the required high bandwidth service and due to the quality of this service we have now AirSpeed Telecom as our primary telecom service provider.”

This is the fourth new contract win for AirSpeed Telecom in as many months. The company recently inked deals with Vhi Healthcare, Údarás na Gaeltachta and Vista Primary Care.

AirSpeed Telecom has also recently been awarded multiple lots of 10.5GHz spectrum licenses from ComReg which will significantly increase capacity in Portlaoise, Dundalk, Waterford and Wexford for uncontended high bandwidth services.

AirSpeed Telecom employs 35 at offices in Dublin (Citywest) and Cork (CIT Campus). Clients include RTE, Údarás na Gaeltachta, Vhi Healthcare, TG4, Telegael, HEANet, Dairygold, NCSS (BreastCheck), Vista Primary Care and Windmill Lane.
