AirSpeed Telecom awarded contract with Vhi Healthcare to provide high-speed connectivity to regional office in Donegal

AirSpeed Telecom, the telecommunications company which operates a nationwide licensed wireless radio transmission network, has been awarded a contract to provide high bandwidth connectivity to the Vhi Healthcare contact centre in Bunbeg Business Park in Donegal.

Vhi Healthcare, the provider of quality healthcare products and services in Ireland, has a contact centre in Bunbeg which employs 25 people to handle customer calls. As Vhi’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and customer databases are hosted in Dublin, there is constant communication between Bunbeg and Dublin. This means that file transfers and communication between Bunbeg and Dublin need to be highly reliable.

AirSpeed Telecom is providing Vhi Healthcare with a 10Mbps licensed wireless link which ensures a safe, secure and reliable method of transferring critical information. Since the implementation of the link, file transfer time has been halved, with the resulting improvement in network performance and end user experience.

AirSpeed Telecom recently extended its network infrastructure into Donegal, meaning it can now provide businesses and companies in the area with uncontended bandwidth and scaleable bandwidth provision of between 1MB and 10MB.

As well as working with Vhi Healthcare in Donegal, AirSpeed Telecom also provides high speed connectivity for Údarás na Gaeltachta to facilitate connections between the body’s regional office in Bunbeg, Co. Donegal to their headquarters in Galway and the overall Government network. As part of this contract, AirSpeed Telecom is providing Údarás na Gaeltachta with a bandwidth capacity of 10Mbps. The site had previously been operating at just 2Mb of bandwidth.

Liam O'Kelly, Managing Director of AirSpeed Telecom, says:

"AirSpeed Telecom is delighted to have been awarded the contract with Vhi Healthcare. The higher bandwidth capacity provided by AirSpeed Telecom will result in increased efficiencies for the Bunbeg contact centre and will guarantee greater reliability when transferring data to the Dublin office."

Margaret Molony, Director, Information Technology, Vhi Healthcare says:

"Quality customer service is very important to Vhi Healthcare and we are continuously reviewing our operations and processes to ensure we have the most up to date systems in place. The change to AirSpeed Telecom’s licensed wireless link was all about improving performance and reliability for us, and that's what we've achieved."

AirSpeed Telecom’s licensed wireless network is a proven alternative to traditional networks and also has the advantage of offering an uncontended high bandwidth service of up to 800Mbps which is uniquely dedicated to business customer use only.

AirSpeed Telecom recently invested €2.3million in their network as part of a multi-million euro long term investment plan which demonstrates the company’s commitment to remain at the leading edge of radio transmission service provision in Ireland. This investment involved the addition of 23 high site locations to the network, providing a platform for greater national reach.

AirSpeed Telecom was also recently awarded multiple lots of 26GHz spectrum licenses from ComReg which will significantly increase capacity in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway for uncontended high bandwidth services.

AirSpeed Telecom employs 35 at offices in Dublin (Citywest) and Cork (CIT Campus). Clients include RTE, TG4, Telegael, HEANet, Dairygold, NCSS (BreastCheck), AA Ireland, Windmill Lane, Xtravision and BOC Gases. AirSpeed Telecom operates a Network Management Centre which provides customers with a pro-actively managed 24 x 7 x 365 service.

In addition to the very large gains in bandwidth that we expected over traditional DSL, a very welcome qualitative improvement has also been observed… comparable to what we\\\'d expect via fibre over similar distances.
