AirSpeed Telecom awarded 26GHz licensed radio spectrum for Cork, Limerick, Galway and Dublin meaning faster and uncontended internet, data, voice and
video services of up to 100Mbps for local businesses
AirSpeed Telecom, the telecommunications company which operates a nationwide wireless radio transmission network, has been awarded significant 26GHz licensed radio spectrum for Cork, Limerick, Galway and Dublin. The move will enable businesses and public sector customers in the Cork region to meet increasing demands for faster communications.
The licenses, awarded to AirSpeed Telecom by ComReg, means that customers can now avail of compelling and affordable data services, high speed internet access and managed network services. The high capacity uncontended services, which include WAN (wide area network) and LAN (local area network) extension services, will also have scalable bandwidth of 10Mbps to 100Mbps and beyond.
This considerable investment, which is part of an ongoing €5 million investment plan by AirSpeed Telecom, will allow business users in the Cork area to access significant bandwidth services which can be rapidly deployed and, therefore, offer customers the ability to quickly align communications needs with business opportunities.
Tim McCarthy, Business Development Manager with AirSpeed Telecom, says:
“The 26GHz licensed radio spectrum permits AirSpeed Telecom to bring bandwidth services of up to 100Mbps to users in these regions. Internet users will see a considerable difference with the uncontended services and the increased capacity allows us to achieve our ambitious development plans to expand AirSpeed Telecom services in the region.”
AirSpeed Telecom operates a nationwide wireless radio transmission network which offers businesses high capacity connectivity in locations where traditional leased line, DSL and IP services are poorly resourced.
AirSpeed Telecom’s radio transmission network is a reliable, secure, safe and cost-effective solution for both businesses and telecommunications operators. As well as being a proven alternative to traditional network and incumbent operators, the AirSpeed Telecom network also has the added advantage of offering an uncontended high bandwidth service that is uniquely dedicated to business customer use only.
AirSpeed Telecom has already invested €2.3 Million in their network as part of a multi-million euro long term investment plan, demonstrating the company’s commitment to remain at the leading edge of radio transmission service provision in Ireland. This investment involved the addition of 23 high site locations to the network, providing a platform for greater national reach.
AirSpeed Telecom, which began trading in November 2003, employs 30 at offices in Sandyford in Dublin and at Model Farm Road in Cork. Clients include Reox Holdings, EMC, HEANet, NCSS (Breastcheck), AA Ireland, Xtravision, BOC Gases and the Musgrave Group. AirSpeed Telecom operates a Network Management Centre which provides customers with a pro-actively managed 24x7x365 service.
